Russians are fortifying their naval base in Novorossiysk (Krasnodar Krai, Russia), hoping to defend against Ukrainian naval drones, according to the Telegram channel of the partisan movement ATESH.

"Agents of the ATESH movement in Novorossiysk are monitoring Russian authorities' efforts to strengthen the naval base of the Black Sea Fleet," the message states.

In particular, occupiers are installing various defenses against naval drones.

"We are observing the installation of underwater nets and floating barriers, which theoretically should hinder drone attacks. In addition, air defense systems and radar are being enhanced," added ATESH.

Seaport of Novorossiysk, Russia: Attack on May 17

Novorossiysk is the largest commercial port in southern Russia, located in Krasnodar Krai. Following the strike on the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol in September 2023, Russians deployed 14 ships to the port of Novorossiysk.

Despite Russian efforts, Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to target objectives in Novorossiysk. On May 17, Russians reported explosions in Novorossiysk, with the port coming under attack.

Later, it became known that the Security Service of Ukraine and the Main Intelligence Directorate launched attacks using over a hundred drones on occupant targets in Sevastopol, Tuapse, and Novorossiysk.
