Exclusive: Ineos enter new talks to sell expensive Manchester United star to free up funds

HITC understands Manchester United are working hard on trying to move Casemiro to Saudi Arabia this summer.

United want a new central midfielder and part of that process, they hope, will see them move on Casemiro – one of the club’s highest earners.

Whist also being on over £300,000-a-week – Casemiro has two-years left on his current deal and that means there are few landing spots, if any, in Europe – meaning the only likely destination is a move to Saudi which also means United won’t have to fulfil part of his wages going forward.

Knowing that, United have been trying to help any deal along and have been taking their part in talks.

Minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has approved the talks, as the club await Dan Ashworth’s arrival as sporting director. INEOS – who run the club’s new football department – have led the talks and HITC understands that amongst those to have been part of the discussions with the Middle East league is United’s lead transfer negotiator Matt Hargreaves.

Man United and Saudi Pro League in talks over Casemiro deal

HITC is also told that United are open to including extras in a deal – which could include a high-profile friendly fixture in the future. United are also open to generally building closer ties between the club and the Pro League – which they are eager to see happen.

The Pro League have confirmed to United they do have an interest in Casemiro and they have instigated talks, as there are understood to be up to three clubs in the league that would like to take him.

That includes a couple of the PIF owned teams as well as newly promoted Aramco-owned Al-Qadisiya – who are looking to make a big impact next season.

HITC is told that Casemiro and his camp are aware of the interest from Saudi and are open to the idea of making the switch and they have been involved in the talks, but have also made it clear the deal has to be right for them, which was one reason United also became involved.

United and Casemiro do not want a long drawn out process and would like a deal done as early in the window as possible.
