Real Madrid want Liverpool player to replace Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, he’s had a ‘stunning’ season

Liverpool don’t have many good memories of dealing with Real Madrid over recent years.

The Spanish giants famously beat the Reds in two Champions League finals in the Jurgen Klopp era.

If that wasn’t bad enough, Real were in fact the team to dump Liverpool out of the competition over three consecutive years between 2021 and 2023.

Furthermore, the Madrid-based club have put the Reds to shame in the transfer market over the years, too. Having snatched Aurelien Tchouameni from them in 2022, Real then won the race for Jude Bellingham a year later.

So, there will be little love lost for Carlo Ancelotti’s team at the AXA Training Centre. And now, Liverpool could reportedly have one more reason to lament Florentino Perez and co.

Real Madrid target Alexis Mac Allister

If you thought Madrid’s reign of terror at Anfield was bad already, then there’s every chance it could get even worse.

Reports have been circulating that the La Liga champions are interested in capitalising on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation. Liverpool need to head that off.

According to Spanish outlet D Sports though, Alexander-Arnold isn’t the only player in the Liverpool squad that Real like the look of.

They claim that Alexis Mac Allister is being ‘closely followed’ by Ancelotti as a potential signing.

With Toni Kroos and Luka Modric both expected to depart the Bernabeu at the end of the season, it’s claimed that Mac Allister has been identified as a possible replacement. Somewhat bizarrely, it’s also reported that the 25-year-old has a release clause of £60m.

Could Liverpool lose Alexis Mac Allister?

The dangers of dealing with Real Madrid have always been very evident to Liverpool. When you’re talking about Spanish, Portuguese or South American players in particular, there’s always a worry that heads can be turned.

Clearly, as an Argentinian, Mac Allister falls into this category. If Madrid come in, he’s bound to be interested.

Having said that, the World Cup winner is reportedly loving life at Liverpool since arriving last year. It doesn’t feel likely that he’d be looking to jump ship after just one season.

Of course, you can see why Real would be interested. As Stan Collymore said recently, Mac Allister has had a ‘stunning’ first season at Anfield. The No.10 has arguably been Liverpool’s best player in 2023/24.

But unless there really is a secret release clause, then we don’t see the Reds accepting any offers for Macca this summer. Not this time, Mr Perez.
