'Enjoy tomorrow boss': Player Liverpool sold in 2020 sends message to Jurgen Klopp ahead of final game against Wolves

Liverpool are creeping closer and closer to saying an emotional goodbye to Jurgen Klopp.

There is now just one day to go before the Reds are forced to come to terms with the reality that Klopp is no longer their manager.

It’s going to be a tough afternoon at Anfield on Sunday, there’s no getting away from it. This is the moment that supporters have dreaded coming since Klopp made his surprise announcement in January.

Along with a number of his coaching team, as well as Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara, it’s the final matchday minus one for Klopp at Liverpool.

Ahead of the game against Wolves, the boss has been inundated with special messages, with the likes of Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard weighing in. And now, another – somewhat less influential – former Red has also sent his well-wishes.

Pedro Chirivella sends message to Jurgen Klopp

It’s a bit of shame that game’s across the world are still largely ongoing at the moment. Imagine if Liverpool had been able to pull together some of Klopp’s notable former players to be present at Anfield.

By and large, those who left Liverpool’s first-team squad under the German did not go on to fare too well.

An exception to that rule was former academy midfielder Pedro Chirivella. The Spaniard was well-liked by Klopp, playing 11 times for him. He even captained the team in the Carabao Cup against Aston Villa, with the senior players away at the Club World Cup.

Following an impressive season in 2019/20, Chirivella rejected a new contract offer from Liverpool in 2020 before leaving to join Nantes. Since then, the 26-year-old has become a key player for the French side. He was named captain in 2023.

But although he has had much greater success with Nantes, Chirivella has always spoken well of Liverpool. And ahead of Klopp’s last game, the midfielder took to X to send a message to his old boss.

“I’ve been really lucky,” wrote Chirivella. “Grateful to life. Enjoy tomorrow boss.”

What time is Liverpool’s match against Wolves?

Although it’s been dreaded for some time now, it will be good to finally get Klopp’s goodbye put to bed.

The long farewell has been really hard to take for Liverpool fans. Now it’s time to rip the plaster off once and for all.

With Arne Slot signing his contract to take over at Anfield on Friday, an exciting new era beckons for the Reds.

There’s still a little waiting to do, though. As the final weekend of the Premier League season, all games kick-off simultaneously on Sunday, with the first whistle at 4pm.

Though Liverpool have nothing left to play for on the pitch, Klopp’s goodbye will be shown live on Sky Sports.
