Ballistic missile strikes Odesa Oblast in early morning attack

During the night of May 18, the Air Defense of Southern Ukraine destroyed a Shahed-136/131 attack UAV in Mykolaiv Oblast and an Orlan-10 reconnaissance UAV in Odesa Oblast, the message stated.

The Air Force again announced a threat of ballistic weapons from the southeast at 6:11 a.m., with the threat repelled by 7:18 a.m.

The consequences of the missile strike have not yet been reported.

On the evening of May 17, the Russians attacked Odesa with several rockets, resulting in one death and eight injuries. A strong fire started at the impact site in the Odesa district, damaging civil infrastructure.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that during the day, Russian occupiers attacked Odesa with three ballistic missiles — likely Iskander-M — and three Kh-59/Kh-69 missiles. Air defense forces in the Southern direction shot down:

  • Three Kh-59 guided air missiles in Odesa Oblast
  • Two reconnaissance UAVs, Zala, an attack UAV, Lancet, and one unidentified UAV in Kherson Oblast
  • One unidentified UAV in Kirovohrad Oblast
