Report: As well as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Real Madrid now want to sign £60m Liverpool player too

Real Madrid now want to pinch another player from Liverpool, after already expressing a desire to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Jurgen Klopp has formed a squad of superstars during his hugely successful time at Anfield, compiling the likes of Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah to create a dynasty on Merseyside.

However, owning so many world class footballers will – unsurprisingly – attract attention from more of Europe’s elite clubs, with Real Madrid now sniffing around…

Real Madrid want Alexis Mac Allister

A story by Direct TV Sports in Spain now claims that Real Madrid want to sign Liverpool No.10 Alexis Mac Allister.

The Spanish news outlet believe Los Blancos are preparing for life after Luka Modric and Toni Kroos – both of whom are out of contract this summer – and attentions are now being focused on the Argentina international.

It comes after Fabrizio Romano claimed that Real Madrid are monitoring Alexander-Arnold’s situation at Anfield, with talks to extend his contract yet to start.

The England international’s current terms expire in the summer of 2025.

Direct TV Sports believe Mac Allister has a €70m (£60m) release clause written into his contract at Liverpool.

If triggered, it would see the Reds land a healthy profit, having signed the South American from Brighton back in June 2023 for just £35m.

Mac Allister has been a sensation in his debut campaign at Liverpool, scoring six goals while also providing seven assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.

Ally McCoist has even named the Argentine as one of his signings of the season.

Arne Slot will have to get used to this at Liverpool

Even Klopp couldn’t prevent Philippe Coutinho from being lured away by a Spanish giant in Barcelona, and with so many superstars at Anfield, the incoming Arne Slot will have to get used to seeing his inherited gems being targeted by Europe’s elite.

That may also add pressure on the Dutchman to deliver in his debut season at Anfield, as similar struggles to his fellow countryman Erik ten Hag could lead to a few wanting to depart Liverpool in the summer of 2025.

Hopefully, that does not turn out to be the case, but it is just one of many notable differences Slot should prepare himself for, once his decision to swap Feyenoord for Liverpool becomes official.
