Report: Manchester United scouted Brazil international this week, now they're ready to make their move

Manchester United are likely to bolster their ranks in the summer after another largely underwhelming season at Old Trafford.

There’s a good chance the Red Devils hierarchy and manager will look to strengthen their defence in the coming months.

Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans will be out of contract soon, while Victor Lindelof’s future at Old Trafford is also uncertain.

Now, according to a report from Italy, Man United have decided to ‘get serious’ over a potential move for one of Serie A’s top defenders.

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with Juventus’ Gleison Bremer in recent months, and Tuttosport now has an update on that front.

They claim that Man United had scouts present at the Coppa Italia final between Juve and Fiorentina, which the Turin giants won.

Bremer was an ‘insurmountable bulwark’ for the Bianconeri, who kept a clean sheet and ran out 1-0 winners over the Viola.

What do Manchester United think of Gleison Bremer after Juve scouting trip?

The Brazil international’s performance apparently ‘bewitched’ the Red Devils scouts, and the club is now ‘ready to get serious’ over moving for him.

Understandably, Juve consider him ‘untouchable’. They wouldn’t even come to the table for anything less than €70million (£60million), added the report.

Calciomercato recently reported that the Red Devils are ‘ready to make a €50million (£43million) lunge’ for Bremer this summer.

That won’t be enough for Juve, so either Man United loosen their purse strings considerably, or there’s little chance they’ll make any progress on that front.

In addition, it remains to be seen whether Bremer would be tempted by a move to a Man United side that won’t be in the Champions League next term.

The report says a lack of Champions League football has already cost the 27-year-old a place in the Brazil team for the Copa America.
