Report: Newcastle insiders do not believe Liverpool will be able to sign 'absolutely fantastic' star this summer

Newcastle United have had to get used to some of their key players being linked with moves away of late.

Indeed, the prospect of seeing some of Newcastle’s best players depart wasn’t really something anyone had to consider during the early days of the PIF era, with the story more about rapid-fire upward trajectory.

However, FFP limitations have recently seen the likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak tipped for exits.

It of course would be no surprise to see either attract interest, such has been their impacts in the Premier League.

Still, there is believed to be a hope that Guimaraes will stay, while Isak may soon sign a new contract.

Perhaps more surprisingly, Anthony Gordon has been linked away.

The England international has been billed as one of the division’s best players this season after a remarkable improvement under Eddie Howe following a slow start after joining from Everton.

Alan Shearer has hailed his progress as “absolutely fantastic” and surely few would doubt the argument that Gordon has in fact been Newcastle’s best player this season.

Such has been the level of his form, he’s been linked with major clubs.

Newcastle insiders, however, have a different view about his future.

According to The Chronicle, however, Newcastle insiders do not believe there is any realistic chance of the Reds being able to sign him given they could be one of their closest competitors next season.

Anthony Gordon will be a big part of Newcastle’s future

Isak is reportedly the player Howe wants to build around but it would not be too much of a leap to suggest Gordon wouldn’t be far behind him.

At only 23 and already doing the business in the Premier League and Champions League, he looks as if he’ll be a leading light for Newcastle for many years to come.

It’s hard to imagine Newcastle ever selling to a team they may be jostling with in a domestic sense over the next few seasons unless they were forced to by way of a release clause.

Gordon left the city of Liverpool for Newcastle. It’s almost impossible to see him going back.
