Jurgen Klopp shares who got ‘quite emotional’ during his final Liverpool training session on Saturday

Liverpool have finished their final training session under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp.

It was a lovely day on Saturday, and ahead of their final Premier League fixture of the season, the Reds seemingly took in an evening training session.

This wasn’t just any old run out at the AXA Training Centre, though. With so many of Klopp’s coaching team departing with him, it was the last chance for Pep Lijnders, Peter Krawietz and the rest to put Liverpool’s first-team squad through their paces.

With nothing on the line against Wolves, it likely won’t have been the toughest run-out in the world. But as Liverpool supporters prepare to wave goodbye to Klopp at Anfield, three points are still needed.

There’s no getting away from the fact that what happens on the pitch is not the most important thing tomorrow. And taking to his brand new Instagram account after training was done, Klopp recognised that reality.

Jurgen Klopp clears out his office

It seems that Klopp is not taking any time to hang around on Merseyside following Sunday’s game against Wolves. He’s already clearing out his office.

The German is a no-nonsense kind of character at times and he clearly sees no need to wallow in his exit.

It’s great that Klopp now has an Instagram account so he can update people on his movements post-Liverpool. And sharing a video on the page on Saturday evening, the 56-year-old recounted the day’s significant session.

“Here I am, last day in the office. Last session done,” says Jurgen. “Was very strange I would say. A lot of coaches got quite emotional, I didn’t get yet.

“I said to myself ‘tomorrow is the game, and after that is holiday’. Obviously, I decide what I think until I get overwhelmed tomorrow!

“So, I will leave this place today, which is… an interesting experience, I would say.”

Diogo Jota and Thiago Alcantara make training return

In a nice moment, it seems as though every one of Liverpool’s squad was available for Saturday’s session, barring Joel Matip.

Matip is obviously leaving the club along with Klopp, but an ACL injury suffered in December will keep him out of action for a little longer.

Besides the centre-back, the two other injury issues for Liverpool heading into the Wolves game were Diogo Jota and Thiago Alcantara. However, the pair were pictured as part of the group on Saturday.

For Thiago, he is now looking for his next club. But it would be nice if he could get on the pitch at least for a few minutes on Sunday.

As for Jota, he’ll surely form part of the group Arne Slot inherits into next season. Good to see them both back.
