The seedings and pool play groupings for the 2024 ACC Baseball Tournament have officially been revealed, the conference announced on Saturday night, May 18th. The North Carolina Tar Heels have earned the top overall seed for the tournament after finishing with a 40-12 overall record, including a 21-8 record in ACC play.

It’s the first time the Tar Heels have finished alone with the conference’s best record since 2013. UNC has no shortage of weaponry on offense, and they’re led by one of the most dominant players in all of college baseball, Vance Honeycutt. He’s averaged .324 at the plate this year with 22 home runs, 57 RBIs, and 10 doubles. Outside of Honeycutt, the Heels feature six batters that have all blasted double digit home runs this year. While Honeycutt leads the team, players like Parks Harber (19 home runs) and Casey Cook (15) have also done some damage. And Alberto Osuna and Luke Stevenson are both tied with 13 home runs apiece.

Virginia Tech and Virginia wrapped up an intense battle on Saturday night. The Hokies jumped out to a commanding 7-0 lead in the second inning. But the Cavaliers managed to battle back and tie the game up at 7-7, after they belted back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Virginia got a three-run blast from Henry Ford to pull the ‘Hoos within one. Then Jacob Ference swatted a solo shot over the wall at Davenport Field, tying it up at 7-7. The game was tied up 8-8 after eight innings.

The game lasted all the way until 13 innings, where Virginia’s Harrison Didawick provided the heroics with his team trailing 9-8. He blasted a two-run home run in the bottom of the 13th, his 22nd home run of the year. The pivotal blast lifted the Cavaliers to a 10-9 victory on Saturday night. It was the 19th comeback of the season for Virginia and their largest comeback of the year.
