TV star 'wouldn't change' childhood shrouded in addiction - 'We were on the streets'

Alexandra Rose has made millions in her career as a realtor and she has a degree in finance and economics. She may be a Selling The OC success nowadays, but her beginnings in life were a far cry from where he’s ended up. Speaking to her co-star, Kayla Cardona, Alexandra divulged on her background and parents this May.

Netflix series such as Selling Sunset, Buying London, and Selling The OC show off the super glam lives of the rich and famous. But, Alexandra Rose is a prime example of how not all reality TV stars are born with a silver spoon in their mouths.

Alexandra Rose on Selling The OC

Two years ago, Selling The OC burst onto the scene, following in the successful footsteps of Selling Sunset.

The Oppenheim Group branched out to Orange County and brought fans along for the journey. Selling The OC welcomed a whole new group of realtors for viewers to get to know.

Alexandra Rose is one of the Selling The OC originals. Speaking on the Pain to Power podcast this May, her co-star, Kayla, explains how although Alexandra touched on her background during Selling The OC, she has a lot more to tell.

Netflix star opens up

Telling her “incredibly powerful story,” Alexandra begins by explaining some of her childhood experiences.

She says: “Both of my biological parents are homeless on the streets, drug addicts, still.”

Alexandra continues: “They’re both homeless, and the state of California took me away when I was just a little girl because of how bad it was. We were on the streets, we were in and out of hotels, you know, I’d be locked up in a closet while they were doing drugs, and there was a lot going on.”

She adds: “The state finally came in and took me and my little brother away and put us in foster care in Orange Wood.”

“They saved me as a little girl, if it weren’t for them, I’d probably be homeless and a drug addict.”

Alexandra details how she was in foster care until she was adopted, along with her brother, at five years old.

“I was adopted, and my biological mother decided to have three more kids. So, my adoptive parents adopted all of them.”

Alexandra explains how she felt she was never given “love” or “adored” as a little girl.

She wouldn’t change her childhood

Although Alexandra details her tough childhood on Pain to Power, she says she “wouldn’t change it.”

She said only in her adult years she’s had some realizations about her childhood: “I’m just starting to realize all those traumas. I didn’t realize as a kid that it wasn’t normal.”

Speaking on her “abandonment issues,” the Netflix star added: “When I was eight, my adoptive dad died.”

Although she’s now navigating her “childhood trauma” in her late twenties, Alexandra explains how her background “gave her motivation and ambition to go for something big in life.”

She adds how her work ethic has earned her respect in her career and says how she has “drive and persistence.”

Kayla describes her co-star as one of the “hardest working people going.”

During the podcast episode, Alexandra also thanked Mary Fitzgerald to this day for helping her connect with Jason Oppenheim and land a place on the show.
