Pep Guardiola was full of praise for a player who is reportedly set to sign for Manchester City in the summer.

Throughout his time at the Etihad Stadium, Pep Guardiola has never shied away from lauding opposition players.

Whether they go on to become Manchester City signings or not.

Pep Guardiola praises “top-class” Manchester City target

The player Pep Guardiola hailed is Lucas Paqueta, who is expected to start for West Ham United against Manchester City on Sunday.

Initially, the £378,846-a-week man praised some of the Hammers’ other attackers via HaytersTV.

“All the four players up front for them for themselves can create something unexpected. [Mohammed] Kudus is an exceptional player, [Jarrod] Bowen for many years, remember [Mohamed] Salah, Bowen in many actions he does.”

Guardiola went on to praise Paqueta: “And [Michail] Antonio, you know, when he’s fit, he’s unbelievable and [Lucas] Paqueta is a top-class player in terms of, can do many, many things. So, all four from nothing, they can do something unique and special. This is all I’m concerned about right now.”

In April, it was claimed that the Brazilian’s agents expect him to sign for City in the summer.

During the same month, it was reported that the treble-winners are in talks with the West Ham talisman, who is believed to be keen on the transfer.

Lucas Paqueta will be further driven to sign for Man City now

If Lucas Paqueta is indeed eager to sign for Manchester City, his desire to do so will only increase after coming across the praise Pep Guardiola afforded him.

Paqueta, like most creative midfielders in the world would likely be dreaming about the opportunity to work alongside Guardiola.

But as a player, it surely must drive one to sign for a club where the manager appreciates their quality.

Especially if the manager in question is Pep Guardiola.

If Lucas Paqueta does sign for Manchester City, it will be interesting to see where Pep Guardiola plays him in his side.

The former Lyon midfielder could emerge as a partner for Rodri in the double pivot.

Paqueta can also operate as an attacking midfielder alongside either De Bruyne or Foden.

The 26-year-old can also provide Guardiola the chance to test him out as a makeshift winger.
