Agent hits Gers with £8.6m tag as Champions League reports put pin in potent striker claims

As Rangers gear up for an exciting summer of transfer business, Albion Rrahmani is a name which has been turning the heads of supporters.

The 23-year-old Rapid Bucharest forward has been on explosive form in Romania this season, Rrahmani netting 19 goals in all competitions.

The Kosovan international is young, mobile and appears to tick every box when it comes to Rangers’ ambitions in the transfer market.

But the early excitement around a potential deal for Albion Rrahmani is tempered by a series of high profile transfer links elsewhere and a rather exorbitant price tag.

Rapid set Rangers Rrahmani rate

Firstly, we should say that the Rangers links to Albion Rrahmani haven’t been picked up by any major news publication.

The source of the reports is the well-established Kosovan football account Kosovan Football, which has almost 20k followers and strong links to the nation’s game.

But until the reports get picked up by something a little closer to home or something more concrete out in Romania or Kosovo, we certainly won’t be getting carried away.

Rangers too might need to dig very deep if they hope to sign the Rapid Bucharest striker this summer.

That’s because one leading Albanian football agent has slapped a €10m (£8.6m) price tag on Rrahmani heading into the transfer window.

As reported by Romanian publication Sport, it’s a hefty price tag with Rapid hoping to recoup over 16 times the €600k (£500k) they paid Kosovan club Ballkani for Albion Rrahmani last summer.

Champions League rivals in Rangers transfer hunt

Philippe Clement has been clear that Rangers need ‘quite a rebuild’ this summer in a public appeal to the Ibrox board over transfer funds.

With several high profile players leaving for nothing – another bugbear in the Belgian manager’s assessment of Rangers – there are some big holes in the squad to plug.

But in order for Rangers to do so, they need financing and the notion we’d spend such a substantial amount on one position is fanciful.

Especially when you consider Abdallah Sima is on the club’s radar to the tune of around £6m.

There is also the challenge of several high-profile transfer rivals in the hunt for 4-times striker Rrahmani, some of which boast Champions League football.

Rangers fans know all too well that there is no guarantee when it comes to football’s elite competition and the qualifiers are a road fraught with danger.

With Benfica and Aston Villa named as suitors by local publication Koha, Champions League level competition looks likely to be fierce.

The report claims the striker is also said to be interesting Werder Bremen in Germany and, perhaps most interestingly, Napoli in Italy.

The Serie A club have a link to Kosovan football, with Albion Rrahmani’s international teammate Amir Rrahmani impressing in Serie A this season.
