X reacts as Man City beat Arsenal to the Premier League title after West Ham win

By Ewan Murray

Manchester City beat West Ham United 3-1 on the final day of the Premier League season to secure a record fourth successive title.

A brace from Phil Foden and a Rodri strike meant that Mohammed Kudus' excellent overhead kick was nothing more than a consolation coem the full-time whistle.

Arsenal did manage a late 2-1 victory over Everton at the Emirates, but they were unable to leapfrog a sensational Man City side.

Here is how social media reacted to Man City being crowned champions.

City were in pole position to secure yet another Premier League crown and simply needed to beat West Ham on Sunday afternoon to win the trophy.

However, there were plenty of nerves to be handed out, with Arsenal still capable of being crowned champions if they beat Everton and Pep Guardiola's side slipped up.

But any nerves among City supporters were swiftly extinguished by the Premier League Player of the Season Foden, who gave Pep Guardiola's side the lead after just two minutes at the Etihad.

The dazzling 23-year-old received Bernardo Silva's pass on the edge of the area and rifled home a wonderful effort to put a firm Man City hand on the title.

For some Arsenal fans, it was game over already.

If Foden's first wasn't devastating enough for Arsenal supporters, his second killed off any hope of Premier League glory in north London.

Another excellent finish from the Englishman doubled Man City's lead and once again highlighted just why he has been voted the Premier League's best this term.

Arsenal were hardly inspiring confidence at the Emirates themselves but managed to cancel out an Idrissa Gueye goal just before the break through Tomiyasu's effort.

However, things suddenly got a little better for Arsenal fans, with Kudus pulling a goal back for West Ham just minutes before half-time at the Etihad.

The Ghanaian produced an immense overhead kick to reduce Man City's deficit...and offer a glimmer of hope to those in the capital.

However, just as Arsenal fans began to allow themselves to dream just a little, Rodri, who exclusively scores big goals for Man City, restored the champions' two-goal lead.

The Spaniard lined up a shot on the edge of the box and his low drive wriggled past Alphonse Areola. Few Man City players are more deserving of such a goal than Rodri.

Arsenal did secure a controversial victory with Kai Havertz's late strike - a goal that should have been ruled out for handball - but it didn't matter as Man City held on for a crucial 3-1 victory.

Despite a valiant effort from the Gunners over the course of the season, they were unable to stop Man City making it four in a row as Guardiola's side claimed yet another Premier League crown.
