What Mauricio Pochettino did just before Chelsea's lap of appreciation today - journalist

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino may have just given a clue about his future.

Chelsea‘s 2-1 win against Bournemouth in their last game of the season means the club have won five consecutive games in a row.

However, despite the good run of form the Blues have been in, Mauricio Pochettino‘s future is in doubt.

In fact, there has already been talk about managers, such as Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna, replacing the Argentine.

Pochettino’s fate could be decided as early as Monday, with Chelsea set to hold an end-of-season review then.

Mauricio Pochettino potentially gives hint over future

As customary, the Chelsea players did a lap of honour after their last home game of the season.

However, Pochettino missed it, with the 52-year-old and his staff heading straight down the tunnel before it started.

Pochettino has since told football.london and other outlets that the club’s press officer informed him that he needed to go inside.

Whatever the case, it does not look like a good sign.

Mauricio Pochettino deserved to have moment in lap of appreciation

This season could have been a complete disaster for Chelsea. They were in 10th place for so much of it.

However, Pochettino and the team managed to turn things around with those five straight wins, helping them to finish in sixth.

It means that as long as Manchester City beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final, Chelsea will be in next season’s Europa League.

Pochettino deserves credit for that and Chelsea supporters probably would have given him some in the lap of appreciation.

It will now be interesting to see what happens to the former Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain boss.

Considering all of the above, Chelsea should really keep hold of Pochettino, at least giving him the start of the 2024/25 campaign. It would be extremely harsh for the club not to give their current boss that after the team’s finish to this season.
