Adrian Clarke has noted how Arsenal players reacted to news that they failed to win the Premier League title despite beating Everton.

The Gunners went into the final day of the season needing to win and for Manchester City to drop points against West Ham, yet as is the way, Pep Guardiola’s side secured another win at the right moment to secure the title.

For Arsenal, missing out on the Premier League will come as a hammer blow giving how far the north London side pushed City and how many club records the Gunners broke along the way this season.

And Clarke has now detailed how Arsenal players reacted at the full-time whistle.

Arsenal players dejected after losing the Premier League title

Speaking on the Breakdown, the pundit pitchside at the Emirates Stadium noted how dejected the majority of Arsenal players looked after the full-time whistle against Everton.

Indeed, given how far Arsenal have gone this season, the mass of crumbled bodies on the pitch were more than understandable, with the Gunners not coming this close to the title in years.

Clarke said: “They look numb, at the moment it’ll feel like they’ve lost the cup final, they feel like their season’s work hasn’t brought them the reward they’ve been chasing the entire season.

“I understand the disappointment, but once it settles in, the players should feel good about themselves and the performance levels they’ve produced, and the supporters are not letting the players forget about that.

Arsenal will be back better than ever next season

It’s become something of a cliche at this point, but there’s a real sense around Arsenal fans and experts that next season will see the Gunners back at the top and better than ever.

The north London side have one of the youngest teams in the division and have improved every single season under Mikel Arteta’s watch, with big moves expected this summer.

And depending what happens to City in regards to their 115 Premier League charges, Arsenal could be on their own in the race for the title, which could be draped in red and white next year.
