Arteta makes bold vow to Arsenal fans who shouldn't be 'satisfied' after Man City win title

Mikel Arteta made a bold promise to Arsenal fans as he addressed the Emirates Stadium crowd after his side’s 2-1 win over Everton.

Arsenal were able to do their job on the final day of the Premier League campaign.

The Gunners needed to beat Everton in order to stand any chance of being crowned Premier League champions. After being frustrated by a determined defensive effort from the Toffees, Kai Havertz popped up in the 89th minute to put Arsenal 2-1 up.

However, in the context of the Premier League title race, this win wasn’t enough for the North London club. Manchester City were able to get the win they needed against West Ham United to record their fourth successive title triumph.

If Arsenal came surprisingly close to winning the title last season, they were agonisingly so this time around.

Mikel Arteta makes promise of glory to Arsenal supporters

However, there are still many positive for the Gunners to take from this campaign. Arsenal made history this season as they recorded more Premier League wins than they’ve ever managed in a single campaign before, with 28 to their name.

The Gunners have also been the most defensively solid side in the division too, have conceded just 29 times.

There have been many individual success stories as well. Declan Rice has been a revelation, Martin Odegaard has shone, whilst Havertz has proven his critics wrong. At the back, William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes have solidified their reputation as the best centre-back partnership in the Premier League.

There is a great deal for the club to build upon this summer, with the goal of silverware to spur them on.

With that in mind, Mikel Arteta issued a promise to Arsenal fans after the final whistle against Everton. Speaking to the Emirates Stadium crowd, the Spanish coach said: “Don’t be satisfied, because we want much more than that, and we are going to get it,” as broadcast by TNT Sports (19/05/2024).

Mikel Arteta is taking Arsenal in the right direction

Arteta has transformed Arsenal on and off the pitch. The club were a mess when he was first appointed as manager in December 2019. He has made the Gunners genuine title contenders again, having built a young and talented squad who are hungry for success, and healed the rift between the club and the supporters in the process.

There are plenty of reasons to believe that the best still very much yet to come for this Arsenal side.

Arteta will seek to strengthen is squad again this summer and will expect his team to go one step better yet again next season and actually claim the Premier League crown.
