Bukayo Saka spotted being consoled by £30m Arsenal substitute after Everton victory

Bukayo Saka was seen being comforted by one of his Arsenal teammates after the Gunners missed out on the Premier League title.

Arsenal’s Premier League campaign did not end with dream finale that Bukayo Saka, Mikel Arteta, or anyone else connected with the club will have hoped for.

Although the Gunners were able to get the win they needed against Everton at the Emirates Stadium, Manchester City secured their fourth successive Premier League title triumph with a victory over West Ham United.

Whilst the Emirates Stadium faithful remained supportive of the Arsenal players after the final whistle, there was understandably an air of despondency on the pitch.

Arsenal made history this season, as they won more Premier League games in a single campaign than they had ever managed before. Ultimately, it was not enough to see them steal the Cityzen’s crown, but it was a season to be proud of all the same.

Bukayo Saka comforted by Aaron Ramsdale as Arsenal eye future success

Arteta is now eyeing the next step forward. The Gunners will be determined to go one better next season and claim the title for themselves. After the match on Sunday, Arteta made a bold promise of glory to come to the Arsenal fans.

Saka, meanwhile, could only look on from the sidelines all afternoon as his title dream slipped away, as he was ruled out of this final outing with an injury.

On the pitch after the end of the match, £30 million former Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was spotted consoling a forlorn-looking Saka, as broadcast by TNT Sports (19/05/2024). Ramsdale also spent this match as a spectator, from his place amongst the Arsenal substitutes.

On a personal level, Saka had a fantastic season. He was the Gunners’ most potent attacking force. Over the course of the campaign, the Hale End academy graduate racked up 20 goals and 14 assists in 47 outings, across all competitions.

Bukayo Saka shines amid impressive Arsenal season

Many feel that Saka established himself as a “world-class” player this season, and given that the winger is still only 22-years-old, it has to be expected that there is still much, much more to come from him.

Saka will have been disappointed today, but he and his teammates can be proud of what they have achieved this season. Keeping pace with Manchester City until the final game of the season was an achievement in and of itself.

There will also have been a number of Arsenal players saying goodbye to the Emirates Stadium today. Arteta will shake up his squad this summer. Ramsdale is almost certain to leave Arsenal, so his final act as a representative the North London club may well have been to comfort Saka.
