Shohei Ohtani delivered his first walk-off hit as a Los Angeles Dodger, giving his team a 3-2, 10-inning victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.
The Dodgers had runners on first and second with two outs in the 10th, and Ohtani lined a single to right field on a 1-2 fastball from Alexis Diaz, scoring automatic runner Jason Heyward.
The two-time American League MVP also legged out an infield single in the eighth and finished the game 2-for-4 at Dodger Stadium.
"He has a unique delivery, so I just wanted to make sure I put the ball in play and it worked out well," Ohtani said through interpreter Will Ireton. "We dropped the first game of the series, so we really wanted to finish strong."
The National League West-leading Dodgers took the four-game series three games to one.
Ohtani's walk-off single came after Dodgers reliever Anthony Banda retired all three batters he faced in the top of the 10th, stranding Elly De La Cruz, who is on a historic pace with 30 stolen bases, at second.
Andy Pages' two-run homer put the Dodgers ahead 2-0 in the fourth before the Reds came back to tie the game on a bases-loaded walk drawn by Spencer Steer.
