Having dropped points in just two league games in 2024, Arsenal did everything possible to challenge City for the title, with the Manchester giants embarking on their longest unbeaten run in club history.

Yet Richards has now shared how Arsenal can beat City next season to the Premier League title.

Arsenal one world-class goalscorer away from winning the Premier League title

Speaking on Sky Sports, the former City defender suggested that Arsenal might only need a world-class goalscorer if they’re to beat City to next season’s Premier League title.

With the Manchester giants having the back-to-back reigning Golden Boot winner in Erling Haaland, a finish of that magnitude could be exactly what Arsenal needs if they’re to finish in the top spot, which might make this summer an interesting one.

Richards said about Arsenal: “It is a brilliant young team and there is more to come at Arsenal. Kai Havertz has done well and Gabriel Jesus has probably not played at a level that we expected when he left Man City.

“If you’re looking on how they can improve they need to get a striker who can score all types of goals, even when Erling Haaland has not played at his best he has scored goals.”

Arsenal might need a Haaland-level goalscorer to win the title

In a season where Arsenal broke numerous goalscoring and club records, it feels insane to think that they might need to go one level higher if they’re to win the Premier League title.

However, when you’re taking on City, the lengths clubs must go to to claim the biggest prize in English football has never been bigger, and Arsenal are no exception.

And if Arsenal are to reach that level, they might have to go out there and find that Haaland-like striker who can help boost up the goalscoring numbers, a transfer that might be almost impossible to pull off.
