Thierry Henry shares what Arsenal must do to beat Man City to the title next season

Thierry Henry has shared what Arsenal must do next season if they’re to beat Manchester City to the Premier League title.

The north London side fell two points short of Pep Guardiola’s side for first place on the final day of the season, with both Arsenal and City winning their last fixtures at home as the Manchester giants clinched the title.

With Arsenal breaking numerous club records this season, Mikel Arteta has now experienced firsthand what it feels like to go up against the Premier League winning machine that is City.

Arsenal have to beat more than just City to win the Premier League title

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Henry said that Arsenal have to look beyond just beating City in the Premier League if they’re to win the title, with the Gunners dropping points this season to the likes of Fulham and Aston Villa.

As mentioned, Arsenal experienced what it’s like to go the full distance with City, and if the Gunners want to win the title, they will have to pick up even more wins next season and transform dropped points this season into victories for next year.

Henry said: “They beat City this year, they didn’t concede a goal against City, but we lost twice against Villa. West Ham at home, but Villa, we lost 1-0 there, we lost 2-0 at home. It’s not only beating City that will give you the title.

“We’re not going to collapse hopefully, because when a team tries to follow City for more than two years they collapsed. What [Mikel Arteta] did is second to none in terms of bringing the team back and having the fans believing, now consistency is key.”

Arsenal have to be perfect next season to win the title

Beating City to the title requires essentially a perfect season from a club, with Liverpool showing in the 2019/20 campaign what is needed to best Guardiola’s side to the Premier League.

And next year, Arsenal might need to do the same if they’re to finally win the Premier League title, with perfection needed from Arteta and his squad in essentially every game.

Indeed, beating City to the title is the hardest marathon any Premier League club can take part in, but the potential is there for Arsenal to do just that, and the Gunners will feel confident about what can happen next season.
