‘Very strange’…Liverpool player left in tears for the first time ‘in years’ after final game vs Wolves

It’s all over for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool as the German made off into the sunset following a well deserved 2-0 win over Wolves.

Klopp’s departure will be felt hard at Liverpool and Anfield was full of emotion at the final whistle as Klopp spoke and then made his way around the pitch.

For the Liverpool players, adapting to life without Klopp is going to take some doing.

Yes, a new manager is coming in in the form of Arne Slot but a lot this squad were 100% behind Klopp and everything he stands for.

Among those to be fully behind him are a cluster of players he’s helped bring through the ranks.

And one of them, Trent Alexander-Arnold, has admitted Klopp’s departure actually left him in tears.

Trent Alexander-Arnold in tears as Jurgen Klopp leaves Liverpool

As we know, Trent was given his chance by Klopp and he’s since become one of the best right-backs in world football.

And speaking to ViaPlay after the full-time whistle, an emotional Alexander-Arnold admitted he’d been brought to tears for the first time in years.

“I’m never emotional. Honestly. Ask my family, ask anyone. I’m not emotional,” Alexander-Arnold said.

“I can’t remember the last time I cried. I haven’t cried in years so this is very strange for me.

“It just shows how much he means to me and the club.”

Klopp’s impact on Liverpool young players has been obvious for years

You only have to look at how Jurgen Klopp is on the pitch to see how much he thinks of his younger players and what he means to them as well.

We’ve consistently seen over the years how he goes onto the field and wraps those big arms around players when they need it most and it’s little wonder Trent was a touch emotional.

This season we’ve seen the likes of Jayden Danns Danns, Conor Bradley, Bobby Clark and more all get their chance under Klopp.

The young players relish the opportunities they get and when Arne Slot comes in, that feeling is something he’ll need to try and continue.
