Glenn Murray shares how Arsenal can improve next season after 'coming up short' in title race

Glenn Murray has shared how Arsenal can improve next season after falling short of Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

Mikel Arteta’s side ended the 2023/24 campaign just two points off City as both teams won their final games of the season as the Manchester giants made it four Premier League titles in a row.

With Arsenal claiming their most-ever wins in a 38-game league season, there were a lot of positives to take from this year despite the Gunners falling short of City yet again in the race for the title.

Yet Murray has suggested how Arsenal can improve for next season.

Arsenal need a clinical centre-forward to win the Premier League title

Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live, the former Premier League striker suggested that Arsenal need a clinical striker if they’re to make up the extra points to best City to the title next season.

With Micah Richards making a similar point, experts seem to believe that a world-class leading man could be what’s needed for Arsenal to finally finish above City in the table, a transfer that could be in the making as we speak.

Murray said: “If you look at Arsenal they have progressed and they have been up there challenging but I don’t really think they have exceeded expectations. They have improved but they are still coming up short as it stands. There is still room for growth there.

“You look and think maybe they need a centre-forward, have scored the second most goals in the league and they are second in the table. Last season the question was, ‘Can they go again next season?’ Well, they have proved that they can and I think there is more to come next year. There needs to be.”

Arsenal need to get their summer signings spot on

Having improved every year under Arteta, fans will be expecting to challenge once again for the Premier League title next season and this time to go that extra mile and to win the championship.

And for that to happen, Arsenal will need to get their summer signings spot on, with a new striker a potential option as well as a new midfield and added depth in the defence.

Given the names linked to Arsenal at the moment, there’s a real chance that the north London side will spend big again this summer, and the squad could be ready to fully challenge for the title in the new season.
