Luka Modric sends wordless reaction to Mateo Kovacic as Man City win the Premier League title

Luka Modric reacted to his countryman and Manchester City midfielder Mateo Kovacic winning his first Premier League title.

In November 2022, Modric claimed that Kovacic was the “heir” to his throne in the Croatian national team.

The pair have played together, not just for Croatia but also Real Madrid.

Modric reacts as Kovacic wins the Premier League with Man City

As Mateo Kovacic took to Instagram to celebrate Manchester City winning the Premier League, Luka Modric commented with a clapping, a heart and a ‘top’ emoji on his post.

This season, Kovacic and Modric faced each other in the Champions League as well.

The veteran’s Real Madrid team triumphed over Manchester City in the Champions League semi-final and are now set to face Borussia Dortmund in the final.

Jack Grealish also sent a message to the former Chelsea technician after he lifted the title on Sunday.

The £150,000-a-week man has won 24 trophies in his club career now.

Apart from Inter Milan, Kovacic has lifted silverware at every club he has played for.

With Manchester City being a club that is geared for success, he will likely win more trophies in the future.

Kovacic must be over the moon to see the Real Madrid legend’s comment

Mateo Kovacic must be overjoyed to have seen Luka Modric congratulate him on winning the Premier League.

Modric, who was at Tottenham Hotspur knows what it takes to win a league title in England.

As a result, the 38-year-old must also have been blown away by seeing how key his countryman was to City’s success.

Luka Modric is a hero in Croatia and to players like Mateo Kovacic, who have witnessed his genius for club and country first-hand.

In May last year, even Josko Gvardiol told RB Leipzig’s official YouTube channel that only when Luka Modric retires from the national team will he realise how much he meant to him.

Such is the respect Modric commands from even some of the biggest names in Croatian football and the City midfielder must be hoping to replicate him and play for as long as he has.
