TV star suffered medical emergency diving for treasure in freezing waters - 'You're blood red'

The latest Gold Rush White Water season has fans totally frustrated. Season 8 kicked off on March 10 and, according to viewers, a “jackpot was teased,” but some have officially “had it” with the show as they’re disappointed with the miners’ haul.

Fans see Dustin Hurt and his team slog away for another season this Spring. The miners dive for gold in freezing cold Alaskan waters. During season 8, Mother Nature shuts down the whole operation. But, fans didn’t appear to be enjoying the Gold Rush White Water episodes, anyway.

Gold Rush White Water season 8

Gold Rush White Water season 8 came with some big emotions for its cast.

After kicking off in March, Dustin Hurt suffered the loss of his father, Fred ‘Dakota’ Hurt, halfway through the season.

Fred died at the age of 80 after a battle with brain cancer.

Dustin was not only in mourning during filming, but he also had a huge haul of gold to mine to make money this season.

As always, the pressure was on. Heading into the season hoping for “redemption,” Dustin said: “Last year was a nightmare, I never want that again.”

Fans have ‘had it’

Upon Gold Rush White Water season 8 episode 12’s release, fans were taking to a Reddit thread to say they’ve “kinda had it” with the show these days.

One fan wrote: “Of all the gold shows, I can definitely say: these guys work the hardest for the amount of gold they get.”

Another said: “Always the big tease of hitting a jackpot during the first episode just to be let down every year at the end. They must get paid pretty good by discovery because there’s no way my wife would let me be gone away from the family for 6 months for a few ounces of gold year after year!”

More commented: “Dang it. Another season. No life-changing gold.”

However, during season 8, the legend of Nugget Creek “was confirmed” as the team found the “biggest nugget in gold rush history,” saying that it “covered the cost for the entire season.”

Although the season appears to come to an abrupt close thanks to Mother Nature, it still seemed they managed to get a huge nugget of gold.

In episode 12, viewers are told: “Dustin and his crew had 48 hours to get the gold and get out.”

The miner tells cameras: “We’re in trouble right now, as he was ‘terrified’ he’d get hammered with snow.”

Gold Rush star’s medical emergency

There were all kinds of hurdles for Dustin to overcome during season 8.

Not only was he in mourning, and dealing with “terrifying” weather conditions, but he also had a health scare.

Dustin suffered a medical emergency during episode 11 and had to be pulled from the water.

The Discovery Channel star is told his face is “almost blood red” as he asks: “What’s happening? I’m having some kind of reaction to something.”

His co-star says: “I think what happened is, carbon monoxide poisoning, man.”
