Suspected Israeli strike on Syrian-Lebanese border area kills six

At least six people were killed on Monday in a suspected Israeli airstrike on an area near the Syrian-Lebanese border, according to activists and Syrian sources.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that a headquarters of Lebanon's pro-Iranian Hezbollah militia in al Qussair, south of the city of Homs, was hit in the attack.

The victims are said to have been Hezbollah members, the Observatory said.

The UK-based war monitor said several people were injured and the death toll is likely to rise.

The Israeli military declined to comment on the report when asked.

Israel's air force repeatedly bombs targets in neighbouring Syria in an attempt to prevent Iran and its allied militias from expanding their military influence in the country.

Attacks have increased since the Gaza war began on October 7.
