Report: Former Everton player who is now valued at £100m is attracting interest from European giants

Everton have been forced into the sales of so many major assets over the last few years, just after Farhad Moshiri had promised a brighter future following his involvement.

For years they had been renowned as a selling club, but his riches suggested that would no longer be the case.

If anything, they have arguably never been more hamstrung and therefore forced into even more major outgoings.

One such example of a recent exit was Anthony Gordon, who could actually be on the move yet again this summer.

Anthony Gordon could leave Newcastle United

Upon leaving Everton, it was widely thought on Merseyside to have been a fine piece of business. £45m for an unproven youngster who had shown little signs of starring at the elite level.

And whilst he has proven those doubters wrong with a stunning first full season at Newcastle United, scoring 11 and assisting ten, it still represented crucial funds for the Toffees at the time.

However, the fact that the Newcastle United value Gordon at a whopping £100m now speaks volumes for his progression, which could have happened at Goodison Park.

Regrettably, this seems to have turned into a tough situation for Everton, who might now see him depart the Premier League for a mouth-watering sum.

That is at least that interlive.it are reporting, who claim that Inter Milan is the latest side to show an interest in acquiring the 23-year-old.

Everton fans would be glad to see Anthony Gordon leave the Premier League

Just like when Richarlison, Romelu Lukaku, John Stones or Marouane Fellaini returned to Goodison Park, there is an extra element of nervousness when welcoming back an old face.

Given the relationships these players once shared with the Everton faithful, to watch them turn out for a new club is never easy to watch, and made even more tough when they score or win.

But with Gordon, that anxiety is intensified given the newly-formed rivalry between the Toffees and the Magpies.

Forged for no particular reason, the Toon Army take every opportunity to ridicule Everton, using Gordon’s fine recent form as an outstanding insult despite paying a significant sum for his services.

So, the 3-0 home win enjoyed by Sean Dyche’s men in December will have felt particularly sweet, under a floodlit Goodison Park.

Should he leave for Inter Milan, this strange new rivalry would likely remain, but without that same added stress of potentially seeing Gordon, who is one of their biggest threats, make the difference against his former club.
