Kentucky remained at No. 2 in D1Baseball’s final Top 25 Rankings of the regular season, its highest end of regular season ranking in program history.

The Cats closed out their historic regular season by winning their last three series of the season against No. 5 Arkansas, Florida, and Vanderbilt.

No. 2 Kentucky’s series victory over No. 5 Arkansas was its first since 2012, its series victory over Florida was its first since 2016, and its series victory over Vanderbilt was its first since 2017.

Nick Mingione’s team finished the regular season 39-12 (22-8) and totaled its most SEC wins in program history (22) along with a share of its second ever SEC Regular Season Championship (Tennessee).

Six SEC teams in total are ranked in the Top 25. No. 2 Kentucky is joined by SEC Co-Champion No. 1 Tennessee, No. 4 Texas A&M, No. 5 Arkansas, No. 11 Georgia, and No. 15 Mississippi State.

Kentucky’s rankings week by week are below:

Kentucky broke into the Top 25 in week six after it started SEC play 5-1 with a sweep of Georgia and a series victory over Missouri.

The Cats then went 7-0 in their next seven games, including series sweeps of Ole Miss and then ranked No. 25 Alabama. This propelled Kentucky ahead 16 spots in just a two-week span.

2024 marked the second consecutive season that Kentucky opened the regular season unranked but then finished inside the Top 25 in the Week 14 Rankings (No. 25 in 2023).

Kentucky will be the No. 3 overall seed in the 2024 SEC Baseball Tournament, which begins Tuesday, May 21 in Hoover, Alabama.

No. 3 Kentucky will play the winner of No. 6 Georgia/No. 11 LSU on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. EST/9:30 a.m. CST.
