Sergio Busquets sends message to Inter Miami star as worrying update emerges

Sergio Busquets has sent a message to an Inter Miami star after a worrying injury update has seemingly emerged.

The Florida franchise were back to winning ways on Saturday with Leonardo Campana scoring a stoppage-time screamer to secure a 1-0 win against DC United at Chase Stadium.

With Lionel Messi back in the starting XI, Inter Miami have just a few games left with the Argentine superstar before the 36-year-old joins up with his national team for this summer’s Copa America.

Yet Inter Miami could now be without another key player through injury.

Nicolas Freire hints at long-term Inter Miami injury

Taking to Instagram, defender Nicolas Freire shared a post that strongly suggested that the Argentine could be out for some time after the center-back came off on Saturday against DC United.

Freire posted: “Ever since I left my home, what I achieved was based on a lot of sacrifice, effort and dedication. Today, I have to face perhaps one of the toughest moments for a footballer. One more battle to face, as I have done all my life. Thanks to the team, the guys are tremendous!”

With the likes of Busquets and Campana replying to the post with messages of encouragement, there’s a strong sense that Freire could be out for some time with an undisclosed injury.

Indeed, the 30-year-old defender has been impressive in recent games alongside Tomas Aviles, and Freire picking up a major injury is the last thing Inter Miami wanted to hear.

Tata Martino might need to dip into the market to replace Freire

Injuries have been one of the recurring themes of the season for Inter Miami this year, with the Herons seemingly losing one player as soon as one returns from the treatment table.

And in the case of Freire, Tata Martino might need to dip into the transfer market to replace the Inter Miami defender if the Argentine is indeed out for a long period of time.

As we know, a center-back was always on the agenda for Inter Miami this summer, yet this update could accelerate plans for the Herons to bring in a new defender, who is now tasked with replacing Freire.
