Gary Christy appointed mayor for March alongside deputy Andrew Woollard

A new mayor and deputy have been appointed for March.

Cllr Gary Christy is the new mayor for the town, with Cllr Andrew Woollard his deputy.

They were officially appointed during a ceremony at the Town Hall.

Fellow councillors and cadets also came to the mayor making ceremony to show their support.

Some of Cllr Christy’s responsibilities include presiding over council meetings and, in the case of equality of votes, having a second or casting vote, promoting and raising awareness of the council’s main objectives and priority issues and receiving distinguished visitors to the town.

Cllr Christy has taken over from Cllr Kim French, who served as March’s mayor from August 2023 after she took over from Cllr Mark Purser who resigned due to ill health.
