Report: Chelsea could now convince European giants to sell 'physical' player to them with £60m offer

Chelsea could sign one defender from Juventus this summer, but it is going to take a big offer to get him out of the Allianz Stadium.

The Blues could very well find themselves in the market for a new centre-back following confirmation of Thiago Silva’s exit.

Silva played his last game for Chelsea on Sunday ahead of his return to Fluminense.

If there are no more departures in that area of the pitch, Mauricio Pochettino will still have Trevoh Chalobah, Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi, Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana.

However, there will be concerns about Fofana’s fitness. The Frenchman missed the entire 2023/24 campaign, though Pochettino is expecting him to be back in time for pre-season.

Chelsea could convince reluctant Juventus to sell central defender

If Chelsea want to replace Silva with another centre-back this summer, then it looks like they could turn to Juventus.

According to TuttoJuve, Chelsea, as well as their Premier League rivals Manchester United, are both on the trail of Gleison Bremer.

The outlet claims that Juventus want to keep hold of him, but a €70m (£59.8m) offer would be considered.

A move to Chelsea may very well appeal to Bremer.

In the past, the Brazilian has stated that former Chelsea player David Luiz is one of his role models.

Should Chelsea try and convince Juventus to sell Gleison Bremer to them?

If the club feel that they desperately need another central defender following Silva’s exit, then yes.

Bremer is a top centre-half who looks capable of playing in the Premier League.

His former manager Massimiliano Allegri has described him as a “physical player”, while his aerial stats are pretty good.

As per FBref, the Brazil international has ranked in the 87th percentile for aerials won among centre-backs over the last year, winning 3.04 per 90 minutes.

Given that Chelsea still have central defensive options, Bremer probably does not have to be a priority. But Pochettino is unlikely to complain if the club land a defender of his quality this summer.
