Hundreds of riders join in On Your Bike charity cycle in Gravesend

Hundreds of riders turned out for an annual charity, cycling event over the weekend.

More than 430 people set off from the Riverside Leisure Area, in Gravesend, yesterday (May 19), as part of this year’s On Your Bike day out.

Around 120 of those turned up to register on the day and in 50 minutes were signed up by volunteers and ready for the rolling start.

Their youngster rider this year was a nearly one year old who joined in the race safely on the back of his dad’s bike.

The cycle, in aid of Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support Services, includes 15, 30, and 45-mile routes that start and finish at the River Thames.

A spokesman for On Your Bike, which is organised by Gravesham with Ebbsfleet Rotary, added: “Perfect weather and a great supportive atmosphere for the charity ride.

“The community response is fantastic. Thanks again to our sponsors, volunteers, checkpoint teams and you the riders.”

The Mayor of Gravesham, Cllr Daniel Adewale King, was in also in attendance and saw the bikers off.
