"Installed green nets, spraying water": Jaipur's top cop announces measures to counter scorching heat

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], May 20 (ANI): Abhishek Surana, Commissioner, Jaipur on Monday announced initiatives aimed at providing relief to residents and animals during the peak summer period known as Nautapa.

As temperatures soar past 45 degrees Celsius, Jaipur's administration has rolled out several measures to mitigate the effects of the intense heat.

"The temperature is rising, so to give relief to the people, we have installed green nets at some places on the road so that the people standing at the traffic signals can get some relief and at the same time, we are spraying water with our smoke guns so that a little coolness spreads on the road. The temperature is rising a lot, it is more than 45 degrees," Surana said.

"We are also installing water fountains for animals and birds inside the garden so that they can also get relief," he added.

The city has intensified its efforts to maintain air quality by spraying water in the mornings and evenings, a practice that will now continue around the clock due to the severity of the heatwave.

"Due to the extreme heat during the Kuki Nautapa or peak summer, we will continue this practice as long as the excessive heat persists. Usually, we sprinkle water both in the morning and evening. This also helps in maintaining our air quality. However, considering the heat, we have decided to continue this round the clock to provide some relief to the people," Surana said.
