Liverpool confirm Arne Slot to replace Jurgen Klopp as manager

By Jude Summerfield

Liverpool have officially confirmed Arne Slot will succeed Jurgen Klopp as head coach this summer.

The Reds searched for a new boss after Jurgen Klopp announced his departure midway through the season. A deal was agreed in April and Klopp unofficially confirmed the news by singing the Dutchman's name during his emotional Anfield goodbye on Sunday.

The club have now revealed Slot, who won the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup and finished runners-up in the 2021/22 Europa Conference League with Feyenoord, will take over as their first ever Dutch boss.

A statement reads: "Liverpool Football Club can announce Arne Slot has agreed a deal to become the club's new head coach, formally taking up the position on June 1, 2024, subject to a work permit.

"The 45-year-old will join the Reds from Feyenoord ahead of the 2024/25 season after a deal was reached with the Eredivisie club for his services.

"Slot will replace Jurgen Klopp at the helm following his decision to step down from the post at the end of the current campaign."

Slot himself had previously announced in May he would leave Feyenoord for Liverpool, with reports indicating he has signed a three-year deal on Merseyside.
