In-state Ohio State targets litter 2026 On300 Update

COLUMBUS — Ohio State consistently and routinely recruits some of the best prospects across the country.

The Buckeyes also recruit the best of the best in their backyard. In the second On300 update for the 2026 cycle, the best of the best in-state also happen to be some of the best across the entire country.

Lettermen Row looks at where in-state targets rank in the new update.

ICYMI: The repeat Chris Henry story

CB Elbert Hill

Four-star Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban cornerback Elbert Hill checks in as the No. 13 overall prospect and the top-rated cornerback by On3.

Stop me if you’ve ever heard Ohio State cornerback coach Tim Walton seriously involved in the recruitment of an elite cornerback. The Buckeyes have hosted Hill six times already in his recruitment and sit in a really good position. This one will take a while, however, as Hill will soon enough blossom into a national prospect.

Ohio State has been on him early and that’s good.

RB Shahn Alston

Four-star Painesville (Ohio) Harvey running back Shahn Alston checks in as the No. 85 overall prospect in the On300.

Alston doesn’t have the bevy of offers you might expect given his high ranking, and that includes Ohio State.

LB Cincere Johnson

Four-star Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville linebacker/EDGE Cincere Johnson is the No. 88 overall prospect in the new rankings update. Johnson is incredibly close to landing that Ohio State offer. He’s worked out in front of James Laurinaitis multiple times over the last year.

Johnson will camp at Ohio State when the Glenville bus rolls through.

CB Victor Singleton

Four-star Toledo (Ohio) Central Catholic cornerback Victor Singleton is the No. 118 overall prospect per On3.

Lettermen Row spoke with Singleton following the Under Armour camp in Canton and the big takeaway was that he knows he has to earn an offer from the Buckeyes.

He will camp in Columbus this summer.

OT Adam Guthrie

Four-star Washington Court House (Ohio) Miami Trace offensive tackle Adam Guthrie checks in as the No. 131 overall prospect. He has visited campus three times and his third was this spring.

Guthrie does not hold an Ohio State offer at this time.

CB Henry Perrymond

Three-star Cleveland Heights (Ohio) cornerback Henry Perrymond is in the On300 as the No. 159 overall prospect.

Another in-state guy that doesn’t have an Ohio State offer, but very well could. I would not be surprised if Perrymond camps with Ohio State this summer.

OT Sam Greer

Four-star Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban offensive tackle Sam Greer checks in as the No. 166 overall prospect in the On300.

He had an impressive workout last week during Hoban’s showcase and the Buckeyes are doing good work here.

LB Jakobe Clapper

Four-star Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier linebacker Jakobe Clapper recently earned his Ohio State offer and he is likely a candidate to camp in Columbus this summer.

Clapper is the No. 167 overall prospect per On3.

ATH Jakob Weatherspoon

Four-star Avon (Ohio) athlete Jakob Weatherspoon hasn’t been on the Buckeyes’ radar much, but that’s starting to change. Our Mick Walker reported that Tim Walton and Matt Guerrieri visited Weatherspoon at school on April 30.

He is the No. 174 overall prospect.

LB Storm Miller

Four-star Strongsville (Ohio) linebacker Storm Miller is very much on the Buckeyes’ radar. James Laurinaitis already saw Miller this contact period and Miller shared with Lettermen Row that he will camp at Ohio State this summer with the hopes of earning the offer.

He is the No. 185 overall prospect.

IOL Max Riley

Offensive line recruiting is always a topic of conversation over at Lettermen Row and Ohio State shouldn’t have to go far to land a marquee class.

Four-star Avon Lake (Ohio) interior offensive lineman Max Riley was the first in-state 2026 offensive lineman to earn his Ohio State offer.

Riley checks in at No. 233 overall. He truthfully could play all five positions, but I like him at guard long-term. Riley has great athleticism and as he continues to grow, that will become more apparent.

ATH Malachi Taylor

Three-star Pickerington (Ohio) North athlete Malachi Taylor is no stranger to Ohio State as the Pick North factor continues to develop high-level prospects. He will camp at Ohio State this summer on multiple occasions.

Taylor is the No. 262 overall prospect.

WR Elijah Harris

Could Brian Hartline find some in-state wide receivers to keep the ‘WRU’ legacy moving forward? Perhaps.

Three-star Westerville (Ohio) North wide receiver Elijah Harris is creeping up the national radar and has a big junior season ahead of him. He is the No. 296 overall prospect.

IOL Will Conroy

Three-star Cleveland (Ohio) St. Ignatius interior offensive lineman Will Conroy remains in the On300 and his stock is rising on the recruiting trail.

The 6-foot-3, 275-pound Ohioan is the No. 298 overall prospect. Conroy is the textbook center but could also play some guard. He has a wrestling background which adds to the center projection.

WR Payton Cook

The final Ohioan inside the latest On300 is three-star Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban wide receiver Payton Cook. But there’s a catch.

Ohio State is evaluating Cook as a cornerback and during Hoban’s showcase, with Tim Walton in attendance, that’s the position Cook worked out as.

He is the No. 300 overall prospect.
