Every decision by Western countries to provide military aid to Ukraine comes approximately a year late. Allies take too long to make these decisions, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to him, Western allies take too long to make key decisions about military support for Ukraine.

Zelenskyy described the delivery of aid, including air defense systems like the Patriot, as "one big step forward, but before that, two steps back."

"Every decision to which we, then later everyone together, comes to is late by around one year," he said.

Delays in supplying military aid to Ukraine

Western countries are actively involved in military support for Ukraine, yet many decisions take months to finalize. Additionally, not all Western countries promptly decide on allocating funds for military aid to Ukraine.

For example, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stated that due to a months-long delay in approving aid to Ukraine in Congress, Kyiv lost parts of Ukrainian territory in the east of the country, including Avdiivka in the Donetsk region.
