Fabrizio Romano shares what he’s heard about Darwin Nunez leaving Liverpool now Jurgen Klopp’s gone

A lot has been made of Darwin Nunez’s Liverpool future in recent weeks and Fabrizio Romano has given an update on proceedings.

The Reds striker has flattered to deceive in recent weeks and has lost his place in the starting XI to Cody Gakpo during the run-in.

This has led to speculation around Nunez and if he’ll stay with Liverpool when Jurgen Klopp has gone.

Barcelona are thought to be admirers of the Uruguayan striker, while the player himself was spotted being the only one not applauding Klopp onto the field at full-time yesterday.

However, speaking about Nunez’s situation at Anfield, transfer expert Romano has suggested talk of an exit could be a tough premature.

Fabrizio Romano gives update on Darwin Nunez after links to Barcelona

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Romano admitted that any sort of deal to take Nunez away from the Reds is going to be a tough ask.

“It’s not easy for many clubs to go and afford a player like that,” Romano said.

“We know so many clubs around Europe are already covered in that position. So, for Premier League clubs, it’s obviously difficult to go and negotiate with Liverpool.

“So that’s why it’s not an easy situation and I think at the moment it’s a quiet story around around Darwin.”

Nunez should stay and be the man for Arne Slot

As Romano says here, the fee and money involved to take Nunez away from Anfield is massive anyway.

But aside from that, there’s also a real chance here for Darwin Nunez to make a mark and show Arne Slot he is the man to take this team forward.

Yes, he misses chances and at times looks like he’s losing his cool in big moments.

But Nunez has so much going for him and he’s still scored 18 and laid on another 13 this season, which are hardly poor numbers of any player.

Nunez, then, has to stay put. With a bit of work and a more detailed look at his game, the big striker could fly.
