Authorities recovered the bodies of two high school students who vanished after jumping into a South Carolina lake on a dare over the weekend.

Their identities have not been confirmed by the medical examiner, nor has their causes of death, but their remains recovered Monday morning have been transported to the coroner's office, according to WSPA-TV.

The frantic search for the students in Pickens County, South Carolina, began Saturday night when someone called 911 to report they couldn't locate their friends, WYFF-TV reported.

Three people initially jumped into the water. The third person was pulled to safety by a boater.

"I think I am really just in shock and also it happened so fast... you never think it would happen to you until I guess it happens to you," Tuleen Al Naseer – who identified the victims as her brother and his best friend – told WSPA.

" ...he is very generous, very kind," said Al Naseer. "He wanted to go to Clemson for engineering. so let's hope Clemson will be accepting him soon."

The lake is up to 200 feet deep.
