Liverpool now looking at signing £43m defender who has the same agents as Anthony Gordon

Liverpool could make a number of new signings this summer and one of them could be a player who has just won the Bundesliga with Xabi Alonso.

The Reds have had their farewell for Jurgen Klopp and now attention will turn to Arne Slot and a big summer for the club.

Key to the success going into next season is going to be how Liverpool strengthen the ranks. They have plenty of quality already but being behind Arsenal and City, the board know more is needed.

Players are already being linked with moves just 24 hours after Klopp’s departure.

Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey is one of the names getting a mention, while Orkun Kokcu has also been touted as a player Arne Slot wants.

And according to reports, Odilon Kossounou, is also on the radar.

Liverpool keen on signing Odilon Kossounou

According to a report from CaughtOffside, Liverpool are preparing to open talks over signing the big defender.

Kossounou, 23, has been one of the top defenders in the Bundesliga all season and has played a key role in helping Xabi Alonso’s side romp to success.

The Ivory Coast international has excelled under Alonso but naturally, that has caught the eye and now Liverpool could make their move.

The defender is valued at around £50m by Leverkusen but previous reports have suggested a fee of around £43m could get him away from Germany.

Kossounou is part of the same agency as another player recently linked to the club, Anthony Gordon.

This season’s injuries have been a problem and while the emergence of Jarrell Quansah is a big plus for the club, a new defender is needed.

Unfortunately, Ibou Konate has had injury problems and Joel Matip is departing as well.

That’s going to leave a gaping hole and Liverpool simply have to plug it.

Kossounou, then, could be the ideal foil to play alongside Virgil van Dijk.
