Report: Manchester United interested in Champions League-bound left back after unexpected third-place finish

Manchester United have just one more game to go this season before Ineos embark on a crucial summer transfer window.

United beat Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon, securing a 2-0 victory on the South Coast.

Diogo Dalot and Rasmus Hojlund were both on the scoresheet, handing United a victorious end to the Premier League campaign.

There is now one game to go with United facing rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

United lost that exact fixture 2-1 last season and Erik ten Hag will be looking for revenge this time around.

After that, the attention turns to the summer window as United look for new faces in a fresh era under Ineos.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co are making changes behind the scenes, so fans will certainly expect new signings to arrive too.

Manchester United want Bradley Locko

United need to strengthen a number of positions but left back appears to be a priority for Ineos.

Luke Shaw has endured injury problems all season long and Tyrell Malacia hasn’t played a single game since the end of last season.

United want to add another left back into the mix, potentially paving the way for Malacia to go out on loan if he gets himself back to fitness.

Nice talent Melvin Bard has been linked but United could look elsewhere in France with Brest ace Bradley Locko now wanted.

Jeunes Footeux report that United have joined Fulham, Nottingham Forest and even Liverpool in looking at a summer move for Locko.

It’s suggested that Locko is on United’s wish list but he isn’t the top priority at left back right now.

They claim that Wolves star Rayan Ait-Nouri is the focus, believing that Locko is a backup target behind the Algeria international.

Ait-Nouri has Premier League experience under his belt, which may make him the preferred target, but Locko is understood to have ‘caught the eye’ at United.

Who is United target Locko?

Locko joined the Lorient ranks as a teenager but moved on to Reims in 2020.

The 22-year-old featured for the Reims II team before racking up 39 first-team appearances.

Will Still allowed Locko to leave Reims on loan, joining Brest in 2023 before completing a permanent move last summer.

Brest paid just €500,000 (£430,000) to sign Locko and his performances this season mean that Brest now want €20million (£17million) for his signature.

Locko has impressed in 33 Ligue 1 games this season, notching three assists for a Brest side who have completely defied the odds.

Brest were backed to be in the relegation battle this season but Eric Roy has sensationally guided them into the Champions League, securing a third-place finish.

Locko has been vital to that rise and the French Under-21 international could now land a huge transfer this summer with United now keen on signing him.
