Firefighters Rescue Person Pinned Under SUV That 'Slid' Off Steep Driveway

One person was rescued this week after becoming trapped underneath an SUV that slid off a steep driveway in Pennsylvania, fire officials said.

Paoli Fire Company said rescuers were dispatched to an auto entrapment in Tredyffrin Township at around 10:40 a.m. Tuesday. Units arrived within four minutes of the call to find a vehicle had "slid off a steep driveway," pinning the patient underneath it.

Photos shared by the fire department show the precarious position of the vehicle, tilted on an incline surrounded by bushes and trees.

The fire department called in several other agencies to help, including three other fire companies, the Tredyffrin Township Police Department, and Abel Bros. Towing, which provided a heavy-lift wrecker.

EMS on the scene provided "continuous monitoring and care" to the patient throughout the 30-minute extraction process, Paoli Fire said.

"Crews stabilized the vehicle using struts, cribbing, pickets and tow strap anchoring using a tow truck from Door’s Towing," the fire department said. "The vehicle was slowly lifted off the patient with a combination of airbags, hydraulic spreaders and a winch."
