Arne Slot has already pin-pointed ‘extraordinary’ Liverpool player as being absolutely key to his new team

Liverpool have officially announced the arrival of Arne Slot as their new head coach.

The Reds had been expected to bring Slot in for some weeks now, but waited until Jurgen Klopp had said his final farewell.

Klopp waved goodbye to an emotional Anfield on Sunday, with the 56-year-old belting out a song for the man who’s set to follow him.

And Liverpool have wasted no time in declaring that Slot will indeed follow Jurgen as Liverpool manager, or head coach as he is officially.

It’s a somewhat daunting task for the 45-year-old. But as Klopp was keen to point out on Sunday, Slot will take over a Liverpool squad with so much potential. And with that in mind, the new man has reportedly picked a player who will be key for him already.

Arne Slot highlights Darwin Nunez as key man

There is lots to be excited about with Liverpool’s current group of players. They have talent, youth and experience all mixed into one.

It must also be said that more can be gotten out certain members of this crop, though.

One of those to harbour the biggest potential is Darwin Nunez. Klopp has done his best to coach the Uruguayan into being the top-class forward he so clearly could be, but there’s still work to do.

Nunez actually had a good season on the whole, but some wasteful finishing towards the end saw him drop out of the team. Some questionable behaviour in the last weeks – including deleting all Liverpool related content from his social media – has led to question marks over his future at the club.

But according to The Telegraph, Slot is all in on Nunez. They claim that the Dutchman has ‘identified’ the 24-year-old as being ‘critical’ to his new team.

The new boss is said to have noted Nunez’s ‘extraordinary attributes’ and has the No.9 down as one of many players he’s excited to work with.

Will Darwin Nunez be at Liverpool next season?

It’s apparently clear that if he has his way, Nunez will be part of Slot’s first squad at Liverpool.

However, as seen by his recent social media petulance, there’s a chance that Darwin is not completely happy on Merseyside.

If he does indeed push to leave though, Liverpool will reportedly demand a huge fee for him.

From the Reds’ point of view, they are said to be planning ahead with Nunez on board. That’s good news for Slot.

Of course, there is a chance that things can change, particularly if Darwin isn’t happy. But for now it should be expected that the Uruguay striker stays. We’re excited to see what he can do under Slot’s guidance.
