Steve Hodge raves about £15m Forest player who has been so good this season

Steve Hodge has picked out one Nottingham Forest player who has been one of the stars of the piece during the 2023/24 campaign.

The Reds brought the curtain down on the season with a 2-1 win over Burnley on Sunday and now plans can start for August.

Forest won the day thanks to two early goals and ultimately the Reds finished 10 points clear of relegation without their four-point deduction.

Hodge has been a regular on BBC Radio Nottingham this season and he has singled out one man for praise.

What Steve Hodge has said about Chris Wood

The 32-year-old has proved a remarkable signing for Forest and he’s been worth his weight in gold during the 2023/24 campaign.

Wood cost £15 million from Newcastle and that transfer fee saw some criticism from Forest fans when he was added.

Hodge gave the Forest striker the ultimate compliment at the weekend – believing that Wood has seriously impressed him this season.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham: “Chris Wood is one of my heroes of the season this year.”

Wood deserves to stay at Forest

The striker has proved his critics wrong and now Forest have to decide whether to give him another contract.

Scoring 15 goals in all competitions wasn’t on the bingo cards of too many for this season but now he’s given Forest a decision.

Wood is out of contract this season and with Forest short on strikers, he will surely get the chance to remain at the City Ground.

The player is on £80,000-a-week but even on the same terms, he’d be an ideal player to tie down given that he’s been good in front of goal this season.

Forest will take stock of the situation with Wood and the player will surely be hoping he’s done enough to earn an extension.
