Hertfordshire County Council proposes 20mph limit for Twyford Road in Bishop’s Stortord

Hertfordshire County Council is proposing a new 20mph speed limit restriction in Bishop’s Stortford.

Objectors have until Thursday, May 30, to respond to the plan for parts of Twyford Road and Twyford Close between London Road and the Twyford Business Centre.

Conservative Cllr Graham McAndrew, the Herts County Council member for Bishop’s Stortford Rural division and an East Herts member for Thorley Manor, has been working with residents on the scheme.

The measures are designed to reduce accidents and “create an environment to encourage more walking and cycling”.

The proposed 20mph speed limit does not include any "vertical calming features", but there will be additional traffic signs and road markings to warn drivers.

As well as residents, Hertfordshire Constabulary, Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust, Hertfordshire County Council Passenger Transport Unit and Bishop’s Stortford Town Council are being consulted.
