‘Might even see’: Ian Wright drops big Man City claim for next season after winning four in a row

Ian Wright has shared an early claim regarding Manchester City’s next Premier League campaign.

The Manchester club picked up their sixth Premier League title in seven years last weekend as they beat West Ham United 3-1 on the final day of the season.

They also became the first club to ever win four league titles in a row.

Even though the season has only just ended and City have an FA Cup final to get through before any thoughts on their next campaign can begin, one pundit has shared his thoughts on how the Blues could fare in it.

Speaking in a recent edition of Wrighty’s House, the former Arsenal striker had this to say on the matter.

He said: “The reason I don’t think they have played great this season is because I think they wanted to get the fourth done.

“I think we might even see a bit more of a relaxed, chilled City for the fifth. Because they have done what they wanted to do, nobody has done it before, and you could feel there is a tenseness to their game.

“Of course, they did run away with some games but I thought the games that were close were games where people got very good chances against them, but they just didn’t take them.”

City must find new motivation for silverware hunt

Out of their 38 league games from their latest campaign, the Citizens won 28, drew seven and lost three, scoring 96 goals and conceding 34.

In regards to Wright’s point about City potentially not being as focused next season as they were this time around, we feel that there is always a target for the Blues to aim towards, whether it be winning every trophy they play for or going through the entire league campaign unbeaten.

Either way, with Arsenal being in another tight title race with City, we feel that Pep Guardiola’s side shouldn’t have a problem getting their motivation or drive together once the next season begins.
