‘One of the greatest’: Pundit details what makes Sergio Busquets so dangerous for Inter Miami

Miguel Gallardo has shared what made Sergio Busquets so dangerous for Inter Miami this Saturday in their 1-0 win against DC United.

The 35-year-old midfielder pulled off the match-winning assist for Leonardo Campana at Chase Stadium as Inter Miami extended their unbeaten streak in MLS to nine games, with the Herons still top of the Supporters’ Shield standings.

With a goal and four assists in all competitions this year, Busquets is enjoying a level of productivity the legendary midfielder is not used to, with the veteran managing 18 goals and 46 assists in 722 games for FC Barcelona.

And former MLS star Gallardo has now highlighted why Busquets was so dangerous for Inter Miami on Saturday.

Speaking on MLS El Resumen, Gallardo noted how good Busquets’ passing still is at this stage in his career, with the pundit claiming that the Inter Miami star is ‘one of the greatest’ in history.

Indeed, the freedom Busquets gets whilst playing in MLS has allowed the midfielder to show off his passing ability to the max, and results are showing with the former Spanish international picking up key assists.

Gallardo said about Campana’s winning goal: “Campana is a good striker, but what happens is that it’s difficult to break into this team full of high-quality superstars. But it helps as it unlocks defenses.

“Look at this pass from Busquets, he raises his head to make the decision and execute a great pass. When you have one of the greatest passers in history, it’s hard for opposing teams to drop back.”

Busquets is loving the freedom of playing for the Herons

The move to MLS from Europe can be a daunting one for some players, with the American top-flight a division that can sometimes catch someone off guard due to the physicality of the league.

However, the likes of Busquets have taken to MLS like a duck to water, with the Inter Miami star thriving in his role with the Herons and with the space the 35-year-old is being granted.

With four assists already this season, Busquets could hit double figures if he can keep up this level of creativity, with the midfielder having the time of his life out there in Florida.
