Man Utd fans have a lot to say about Marcus Rashford after he fails to make England squad for Euro 2024

Manchester United fans made their feelings clear on Marcus Rashford after the England star was left out of the Three Lions squad for Euro 2024.

Marcus Rashford has underwhelmed at Manchester United in the current campaign after an impressive 2022-23 season under manager Erik ten Hag.

The 26-year-old was in the form of his life in Erik ten Hag’s debut season at Old Trafford, with Rashford scoring 30 times in 56 appearances across all competitions.

But Rashford struggled to replicate his scintillating form in the 2023-24 season and has scored only eight times in 42 appearances across all competitions for United.

The United star has also faced criticism over his off-field behaviour, including visiting a nightclub after the defeat to Manchester City in the derby in 2023.

Erik ten Hag was once again faced with questions over Rashford after the United star reported ill for training ahead of the FA Cup tie against Newport County.

However, it was reported at the time that Rashford had been spotted visiting Belfast nightclubs ahead of his absence from United training.

Rashford is out of England squad

Marcus Rashford was called up for England during the March international break, but the Manchester United star did not start for Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate.

He came off the bench for a brief cameo in the 1-0 defeat to Brazil at Wembley before being left as an unused substitute for the 2-2 draw against Belgium.

Rashford, who made his England debut under Roy Hodgson back in 2016, has been capped 60 times for the Three Lions and scored 17 times for his country.

The United star had been a key player for Gareth Southgate and featured at major tournaments for England, including scoring three times at the 2022 World Cup.

However, Southgate on Tuesday confirmed his England squad for Euro 2024 in Germany this summer and Rashford failed to secure his place in the team.

Man Utd fans react to Rashford missing out for England

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, were divided on Rashford being left out of the England squad for Euro 2024.

Some Red Devils supporters said it was a “chance for him to have a break” and “recover his form” ahead of the next season for United.

Other United fans, on the other hand, believe that it was the “reality check” that Rashford needed after his subpar season at Old Trafford.

“Unfortunate. But he’ll know why. Good long summer to recover and bounce back,” one fan said.

Someone else commented: “I’m actually relieved about this from a club fandom point of view. A chance for him to have a break, get out of the spotlight [and] recharge. No doubt he’s had a bad season, but what has happened to him [and] the way he has been treated has been a disgrace.”

“Deservedly so left out. Hopefully, it’s the reality check he needs,” a third added.

Another tweeted: “Short-term pain for long-term gain, hopefully. It might just be what he needs to recover his form from the previous season.”

A fifth posted: “Reality check. Doesn’t deserve to be on the plane at all.”

While a sixth fan wrote: “I’m not angry at this actually, it’s very unfortunate for him, but he will be back.”

And another commented: “It was expected. Other players had better campaigns for their clubs. Let’s hope it motivates him to play better. He should know why he’s fallen from grace [and needs to] do something about it. He’s not getting any younger.”

Somebody else simply said: “Hopefully, it’s the wake-up call he needs to come back strong next season.”
