Two Manchester United targets will now travel with Bruno Fernandes to Euro 2024

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has missed out on a spot in the England squad but a number of other players will be in action at Euro 2024.

Gareth Southgate has named a provisional squad for the European Championships but Rashford is nowhere to be seen.

The United forward is paying the price for a disappointing season but Kobbie Mainoo has landed a spot in the squad after a breakthrough campaign.

Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw are both included but question marks surround their fitness levels after recent injury woes.

The likes of Scott McTominay, Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen are also expected to be involved at Euro 2024, barring any late injuries.

More and more squads are starting to come in and Portugal have matched England in naming theirs on Tuesday…

Two Manchester United targets join Bruno Fernandes in Portugal squad

Roberto Martinez is preparing to lead Portugal into Euro 2024 and he has named a very talented squad for the flight to Germany.

Premier League stars Bernardo Silva, Pedro Neto, Diogo Jota, Joao Palhinha and Ruben Dias are all included alongside United captain Bruno Fernandes.

There is real talent coming through for Portugal as well though and two wonderkids have been included.

Centre back Antonio Silva and his Benfica teammate Joao Neves are both named in the Portugal squad and United will be paying very close attention.

Reports just last week suggested that United are planning to move forward in pursuit of midfielder Neves although a release clause of £104million is far from ideal.

Defender Silva is also on United’s radar and has been for a while with a release clause of around £87million in his contract.

The pair will now spend the summer alongside Fernandes, who may just be minded to have a word in the ear of the two Benfica talents in an attempt to lure them to United.

Fernandes past comments on Joao Neves

United scouts are bound to be watching both Silva and Neves closely as they potentially feature in this summer’s major tournament.

Portugal face the Czech Republic, Turkey and Georgia in the group stage and we could see Silva and Neves feature.

United appear to be big fans of both players and Fernandes has already thrown support in the direction of midfielder Neves.

Speaking in March, Fernandes suggested that Neves is an ‘excellent player’ and could totally understand why top clubs want to sign him.

Fernandes refused to be drawn on United rumours at that point, but there is a real chance that they team up in the Portugal midfield before joining forces at United this summer.

That is an exciting prospect and United may well want to see Fernandes sell Neves on a potential move to Manchester as they prepare to spend weeks in Germany together.
