Arsenal fans believe Martin Odegaard did one thing better than anyone else this season

Arsenal supporters have now hailed Martin Odegaard for his standout ability to do one thing this season.

Martin Odegaard has enjoyed a fine season for Arsenal.

The Norwegian playmaker was the heartbeat of Mikel Arteta’s team throughout the campaign. Not only is the midfielder the creative hub of the team and dazzling on the ball, he is also an astonishingly hard-worker, who takes responsibility for triggering and leading the Gunners’ press.

Odegaard has been dubbed a “perfect” Arsenal captain due to his work-rate and obvious commitment to the cause.

He is also a key feature of the team’s attacking play. Moves in the final third tend to flow through him, and he racked up 11 assists this season, across all competitions.

Many Arsenal fans have now picked out two Odegaard assists as the most eye-catching produced by any of the club’s players this season.

Martin Odegaard tops Arsenal best assist poll

In a poll run by journalist Sam Dean, supporters of the North London club were asked to name their favourite assist of the season from four given options.

2,896 fans voted, with 4.7% opting for Gabriel Martinelli’s set up for Eddie Nketiah against Nottingham Forest, whilst 15% picked Gabriel Jesus’ contribution to Martinelli’s strike against Sevilla in the Champions League.

However, more than 80% were divided between two Odegaard efforts. 38.2% elected the 25-year-old’s pass that set up Leandro Trossard against Porto.

The top choice, though, with 42.1% of the votes, was Odegaard’s delightful through-ball which sent Kai Havertz through on goal against Chelsea. The German finished with aplomb against his former club. It has since been revealed why Havertz chose to celebrate his strike against Chelsea.

Meanwhile, it is clear that Odegaard is Arsenal’s assist king.

Mikel Arteta striker hunt could bring the best out of Martin Odegaard

This is perhaps unsurprising, as Odegaard has been one of the most creative players in Europe this season.

There is certainly a sense that Arteta could get more out of the former Real Madrid man’s vision and playmaking abilities.

If the Gunners had a more clinical presence at the top of the pitch, Odegaard would surely be able to register more assists. Arsenal are known to be on the lookout for a striker ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window. The arrival of a true penalty box predator at the Emirates Stadium could help Odegaard to reach the next level.
