Report: What Arsenal sources now think will happen with Bruno Guimaraes this summer

Newcastle United want to keep Bruno Guimaraes this summer, and will believe they are protected his by release clause.

If clubs want to buy Bruno Guimaraes this summer, they better find a spare £100million. That is how much must be offered for his release clause to be activated, which would make him the most expensive departure in Newcastle United history.

That release clause leaves the Magpies slightly vulnerable, although there is a catch that actually leaves Newcastle United in a position of strength.

Bruno’s £100million release clause can only be activated for a short period of time, with clubs having a small window to get the 26-year-old at that price. If they want to sign Bruno without having to negotiate with Newcastle then they need to activate his clause at some point between the last week of May and the beginning of the final week of June.

Therefore, clubs like Arsenal will need to get their finances in order and find some pennies if they are going to make a move for Bruno.

How Arsenal feel about signing Bruno Guimaraes

However, a new report from iNews suggests that Arsenal have a different plan with regards to bringing Bruno to the Emirates Stadium from St James’ Park.

According to iNews, sources at Arsenal believe that they are going to be able to sign Bruno for less than £100million later in the summer.

That would obviously be ideal for them, as they will want to sign a player of Bruno’s calibre for as little as possible. After missing out on the title, they will feel even closer to possibly finishing first if they can add the Brazil international to a midfield that already has Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice.

Newcastle are not going to negotiate Bruno Guimaraes’ exit

But while that plan suits Arsenal, it is not going to become a reality.

Newcastle United do not want to lose their talisman, and are determined to keep him at St James’ Park for at least one more season.

And if he is to leave this summer, it will only be for the £100million fee that was agreed when the Magpies extended Bruno’s contract last year. They are not going to negotiate a deal on reduced terms, with Eddie Howe making it very clear that he is desperate to retain the services of Bruno.

That means Arsenal will probably disappointed in their pursuit of Bruno, and that could also be the way their interest in Alexander Isak ends. He is another Toon superstar that is not for sale, as Howe plans to kick on next season and continue building his team around Bruno and Isak.
